Brief Bio

Kari Hexem, MPH, DMD, is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Community Oral Health Department at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She is a co-course director of several courses, including a three-year Practice Management and Professionalism course and community health/public health dentistry courses. Dr. Hexem attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology/Biostatistics from Oregon Health Sciences University, and a BA in Cultural Anthropology from Reed College.

Dr. Hexem has been a member of the Philadelphia FIGHT family since 2012. She and her team built Philadelphia FIGHT’s dental program from the ground up. She is very passionate about the work she is doing to improve access to dental care for communities living with and at high risk for HIV/AIDS and those who do not have insurance.
