Samantha Matlin
Director of Workforce Education, Center for Public Health“We created the Impact Hub to directly meet the needs of public health practitioners who are doing critical work every day, but don’t always have access to the tools, resources, or training they want.
This initiative is about meeting people where they are—offering real-world solutions, flexible formats, and sustained support that can build capacity across their organization and beyond.”
Public Health Impact Hub
The Impact Hub is backed by founding support from the Scattergood Foundation. This partnership with Scattergood builds on its long-standing commitment to strengthening nonprofit capacity.
Since 2010, Scattergood has supported nonprofits in program planning and evaluation through initiatives such as the RISE Partnership, a regional collaborative that provided training, tools, and hands-on support to improve evaluation capacity and promote data-driven decision-making.
The work of RISE lives on through collaborations like the Public Health Impact Hub, a key program that reflects both Scattergood’s and Penn CPH’s shared vision: to equip organizations with the skills and resources they need to best serve their communities.
Impact Hub In Action
Event Spotlight, August 2025
In August 2025, we partnered with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, Bureau of Family Health to host a two-day on-site Program Evaluation Institute in Harrisburg, PA.
Over 70 staff—including Division Directors, Managers, and Public Health Program Administrators—came together to build skills in evaluation, share ideas, and strengthen approaches to advancing family health programs across the Commonwealth.
